The West Virginia Surf Report
In 1978, Jeff Kay started a zine called The West Virginia Surf Report. Fast forward nearly 30 years, and Kay, now "an Ugly American living on the cusp of a mid-life crisis," continues to serve up crude, rude, and very, very funny stuff. Only, now the Report's online and getting more attention and hogging more bandwidth than the zine ever could, may it rest in peace. There are a million things here to offend and amuse. Here are just a few of our favorites:
- Fast Food: Ads vs. Reality – "Each item was purchased, taken home, and photographed immediately. Nothing was tampered with, run over by a car, or anything of the sort."
- Black Box Stew – "So, who would you like to see go down in that next big air disaster? Everybody has their own personalized list..."
- Rules of Thumb – "If a person says, "Go look in the sink,"—don't."
