Two men meet for the first time. One lives in France; the other in Switzerland. They have come together because something about them—the shape of their faces, their hair, some quirk of mannerism or spirit—makes other people think they look exactly alike. Do they seem that way to each other? No. Maybe. But to observers, their resemblance is uncanny. For years, Canadian photographer François Brunelle has been on the look-out for look-alikes, humans who are not related to each other and yet appear incredibly similar. The brief gallery doesn't attempt to take on the whys or wherefores of it all. And we wish there were more photos. But the few presented succeed in calling up what Brunelle calls "the fundamental human themes of resemblance and identity." And if you've spotted a look-alike, or have been pegged as one yourself, don't hesitate to join in.
