Joe Mathlete Explains Today's Marmaduke Some things—the theory of relativity, the tax code, the popularity of Paris Hilton—require an explanation. Others do not. When it comes to the comic strip "Marmaduke," we'd tend to think no explanation was required. Not so Joe Mathlete. Previously known only for drawing a nipple on Ziggy's nose, Mr. M. now offers a near daily interpretation of the latest side-splitting "Marmaduke" panel. Generally the sparest of annotators, Joe describes this December 1 dynamic in which the canine closely inspects a bearded man sitting on a bench: "Marmaduke is harassing a street person." Or in this commentary from November 20, he theorizes that the famous Great Dane is "being petulant because he misses barbecue." In his own words, Joe Mathlete "thinks about Marmaduke more than a person ought to." Alas, we beg to differ, Joe. (in Comic Strips) |
