31 Days of Horror For the third year in a row, the movie wunderkinds at Not Coming to a Theater Near You have embarked on a 31-day tour of monster flicks, splatstick cinema, hammer films, and every variety of psychological or bloodcurdling terror ever projected onto the silver screen. For each day of the countdown, they review a film from almost 80 years—and nearly as many genres—of horror movie making. 2005's lineup showcased such hair-raising gems as "Rosemary's Baby" (genre: evil children/psychological horror), "Flesh for Frankenstein" (sleazebag horror/exploitation/reanimation), and "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" (evil doctors/Vincent Price, who absolutely deserves a genre all his own). Already this year, the films have slithered from the files of satire/monsters, classic horror/haunted houses, and gothic horror. Now, as Halloween creeps ever closer, indulge in some chilling cinema—31 days worth, if you're brave enough. (in Movie Reviews) |
