QuickMuse Old Mr. Shortfellow, our beloved and crusty professor of Creative Writing 101, once sermonized that "writing is revising." No midnight flashes of inspiration? No opium-infested rhymes of Kublai Khan? We've been dismayed to this day, since we hate rewriting so much. And then comes QuickMuse. An online jam session of poets (and fiction writers, recently), QuickMuse is bringing back the premise and the promise of inspired genius. Riffing off of, for example, a Miles Davis quotation about Charlie Parker, two writers are invited to, once again, tap into that ethereal, coy, and fickle thing called a muse. And they'd better be quick about it. Watch in real time as the challengers attempt to mold masterpieces in the allotted 15 minutes. Whether you're studying to be an inspired genius or you're inspired by genius in general, QuickMuse can offer a brief but powerful glimpse into the act of writing. (in Poetry) |
