My Father's Hand Amanda Wray's father, Samuel, suffers from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. A retired serviceman who once built an impressive collection of wood-handled tools (and rejected the indignity of those trailing an electric power cord), he is now confined to a wheelchair. He can't hold a pen. But his daughter has begun to upload to the Web the drawings that he made throughout his life. And these images, delicately composed, sometimes nearly escaping the page, speak for him now in a moving way. So far, the pictures are primarily abstract, ink and watercolor, or felt-pen impressions of the human form. Perhaps they're all like that; we're not sure. But we know we'll be back to find out.
