McDonald's Talk Some time ago, The New York Times ran an article on McDonald's Talk, a kind of backroom free-for-all on LiveJournal where employees of the golden arches let it all hang out. Ever since, we've found ourselves returning to this lively, unauthorized message board for its tales of customer psychosis, drive-thru folly, and managerial cruelty. (Don't miss the saga of the late-night manager-slash-drug-runner and the safe that couldn't be cracked). The crew who post here run the gamut from Super Sized-out to surprisingly content ("I've noticed some neat little quirks about overnight...you get hit on a lot more"). Most, though, lean toward exasperated, dog-tired, and sharply comic. If you've ever served food or manned a cash register, the tenor of these McRants will be familiar. If you haven't, then driving through from time to time may be the next best thing. (in Employment & Work) |
