The Hype Machine
Let  the music studios whine. We cheer the online explosion of blogs devoted to unearthing, highlighting, and rejoicing in music. We know, though, the amount of effort it takes to build a database of the freshest sites and then sift through it. That's where The Hype Machine rolls into town. This "audio blog aggregator" scours a spectacular number of music sites for MP3s to gush about, and then bubbles up the most popular songs. It links to the blog posts, compiles lists of the most fervently discussed artists, and offers several places to buy the albums or tunes where proceeds go to the musicians. A self-described "experiment," this one-stop shop just wants you to "fall in love with something new." Can there be any better motive? (in Music Blogs) |
