Dirty Car Art Scott Wade lives at the end of a mile and a half of unpaved Texas gravel, clay, and limestone dust. And each time he drives to and from his home, his MINI Cooper looks like it. But where most of us would see a spectacularly dirty car, Scott sees a blank canvas. Why waste three-and-a-half feet of dirt-coated shatterproof glass, when you can create art with it? Using an assortment of brushes, Scott has fashioned the dust on his rear windshield into likenesses of Mona Lisa and Albert Einstein, tributes to local reporters, propaganda for tongue-in-cheek politicos, and the occasional portrait of his pre-teen. We particularly like the way he tracks his temporary sketches as they meet with wind, sun, rain, and the occasional vandal (often in the form of his cat Squeak). But if you see Scott on the road, watch out. His rearview vision is clearly impaired. (in Thematic Art) |
