Thomas Dolby's Blog
After  maintaining radio silence since his 1980s synthpop hits, Thomas Dolby is back and blinding us with science on his blog, posting updates from his current tour. He's even got spiffy new versions of his mad-scientist goggles and trenchcoat. Dolby claims to feel fresh and unjaded after his absence from the music scene, and unlike some formerly hot pop stars, he doesn't seem to have sunk into a life of drugs, despair, and reality TV shows (though he's certainly contending with K-Fed copyright tangles and Freakonomics-fueled rumors). Gear-heads will thrill to the technical specs of Dolby's current shows, and fans will appreciate all the thought that goes into his set list. While mostly focused on his work, Dolby also shares glimpses of his family history and praises the virtues of his garden shed. The blog isn't too hyperactive, but neither is it filled with antiquated notions. (in New Wave and Synthpop) |
