TurnHere In this collection of "3-minute neighborhood movies," locals from the Upper East Side to Little Havana and Watts sing the praises of their favorite delicatessens, coolest outdoor bars, and most-beloved streets. There's a low-fi, in-love quality to these shorts that saves them from being too pleasing to their town tourism boards. Musicians, firemen, dog owners, and at least one competitive eater wax charming and enthusiastic about their favorite local places. And more than a few celebrities make appearances, too. Surf icon Bobby Challenger Thomas leads a brief "safari ride" of San Diego's Pacific Beach, while Tulsa rapper Ryan Smallwood pulls up a chair at Elmer's BBQ (tagline: "It be bad!"). Finally, Sopranos fans should stop what they're doing right now and watch the tour by Joe Gannascoli, who plays Vito on the show, of Jersey locations featured in the hit series. (in Short Films) |
