The Religion of Comic Book Characters Before pledging your allegiance to a superhero, it's important to know all the facts. For example, not only does Superman enjoy x-ray vision, he is also -- like President Bush -- a Methodist (end similarities). While some debate exists on whether Batman was originally Catholic or Episcopalian, everyone agrees his present status is "lapsed." Wonder Woman adheres to the Gods of Greco-Roman mythology, probably because in her world they are real. Coincidentally, perhaps, a character named Anti-Body is Catholic (as is, ironically, Hellstorm). Captain America and Spider-Man? Protestants. But funny, The Thing doesn't look Jewish. Thor is a Teutonic Pagan, which probably excludes him from public office. And these are not your father's Presbyterians. As for super villains, like Lex Luthor, many are atheists. Who knew?
