World Livestock Auctioneer Champions Fasten your seatbelt -- it's going to be a high-speed ride. The clips collected here could give you whiplash; one auctioneer after another works the room, manages the bids, and hawks the cattle -- all at record-breaking velocity. This gathering of championship performances begins in 1963, when Ed Buckner of Mexico, Missouri nabbed the grand prize, and concludes with Ron Kreis, of Adamsville, Ohio, fast-talking his way to the 2005 title. Along the way, each auctioneer showcases a style unto himself. One assumes a staccato rhythm (we love it when he roars, "C'mon boys!"); another slows his delivery just enough to lull the crowd, then slams the pedal to the metal. Still want more? Return in June for more high-octane rap from the nation's best at this year's festival. (in Audio Clips) |
