BubbleRings.com Swimmers do it. Scuba divers do it. Even dolphins do it. If inventor David Whiteis has his way, his RingMachine will also do it -- and enable us all to release our own underwater rings from safely submerged locations. Bubble rings, according to this Edison of the soggy set, are similar to smoke rings, "except they exist underwater, and they are made of pure, clean air." Whiteis has two patents approved on his ring-puffing device and more on the way. In the meantime, dive into the video clips on his site. From a bottom-of-the-pool view, watch single rings shimmy and ascend, double rings wobble upward, and a few lucky rings get caught and sliced by dolphins. Proving that even the most refined humpback whales do it, one makes a guest appearance -- and blows a big, beautiful ring the old-fashioned way. (in Toys) |
