A Million Little Lies We all know and love The Smoking Gun for unearthing previously unseen documents and, most famously, a cornucopia of notable mugshots. But it's also busy sticking its beak into the world of investigative reporting. Following their dedicated reportage of the Michael Jackson case, the site's editors turned their attention to author James Frey, who detailed his battle with drug addiction and copious criminal behavior in the book "A Million Little Pieces." Frey reached the pinnacle of publishing success when Oprah Winfrey chose "Pieces" for her book club. Innocently trying to locate a mug shot of Frey for their rogue's gallery and turning up empty, the editors of the Gun dug deeper into Frey's supposed down 'n' dirty background. With background checks of the incidents in Frey's book, interviews with police, and the Smoking Gun's trademark document dives, the result is an exhaustive look at how Frey's narrative doesn't exactly jibe with facts. Even if you've never picked up "Pieces," you're sure to love this expose of one of America's most celebrated young authors. (in Literature > Authors) |
