The Journey: Our Road to the Olympic Games The long, cold road to the Winter Games in Torino, Italy, began some time ago for these athletes. Since childhood, two-time Olympian Cammie Granato dreamed of playing hockey, and a nearly crippling injury couldn't stop freestyle aerialist Emily Cook from returning to the Olympics. Even athletes involved in new sports have a hard slog getting into the Games. In a podcast series, snowboarder Seth Wescott explains the origin of snowboardcross, which is kind of like motocross on snow. Years of training, worldwide competitions, and yet more training all lead up to the Olympics. Now, in this collaborative blog, athletes, their coaches, and their fans will chart their path to the mountains. You can follow along from the comfort of your warm home. (in Sports) |
