CoverPop Art and commerce give each other a big cozy hug in Jim Bumgardner's "coverpops," mosaics of colorful images culled off Amazon. Psychedelic software programmer Bumgardner arranges hundreds of book, album, and product thumbnails to create beautiful color fields and clever photomosaics. Drag your mouse over the individual "micro thumbnails" to pull up a larger image of the book cover, CD case, or comic. Our favorites include "every guitar on Amazon" and "vintage pulp fiction," but we have to admit we're stumped as to the identity of the indie rock coverpop. Syd Barrett, maybe? Regardless, coverpops rock. But be warned! As Cory Doctorow over at BoingBoing cautions: "I just lost an hour of my life to playing with this and had to close the window or I would have lost another." (in Web Art)
