Monster Mags! Some folks groove to the National Review or Architectural Digest. Others prefer The New Yorker or Atlantic Monthly. And then we have those who like their periodicals a little more colorful, a little less tasteful, and absolutely dripping with blood. Those would be the fans of publisher James Warren's staple of 1960s and 70s horror magazines. This site features just the covers of these illustrious periodicals, but some pictures speak for themselves. Warren apparently was not one to waste space on titles when a simple horror-imbued word would do: The covers of such mags as Creepy, Eerie, Weird, Nightmare, and Scream are all here. Not to mention Vampirella, Tales of Voodoo, Witches' Tales, Terror Tales, and Horror Tales. Great works of art? Well, don't lose your head. But after all, it is Halloween. (in Entertainment) |
