Think Denk With this blog, concert pianist Jeremy Denk allows us to listen in on "the glamorous life and thoughts" of a classical musician. "Glamorous" may be debatable, but this blogging performer definitely reveals himself to be thoughtful and amusing with a laptop. Though he sometimes veers overboard ("What a wonderful word is 'moot'..."), his jubilance in discussing everything from the curses of morning concerts to "love, music-style" to the perils of strange hosts at out-of-town festivals makes for enjoyable stuff. Along the way, he proves himself as much a foodie as a performer: A good plate of sushi, a spicy bowl of Pho, dissatisfying hummus, and a poppy strudel commingle happily with novelists, composers, and fellow musicians. He may inspire you to pick up that old clarinet, or just to think Denk from time to time. (in Classical) |
