Flickr: Explore Flickr junkies rejoice! Everybody's fave new photo sharing site (full disclosure: our employers liked it so much they bought it) unveils a super cool feature: Interestingness. In other words, Flickr now ranks their photos by coolness. So instead of trolling through five thousand tagged photos (e.g. "New York"), you get only the primo stuff (e.g. "Wow! Look at that stunning Central Park sunset!"). What defines interestingness? A mysterious algorithm that incorporates "where the clickthroughs are coming from; who comments on it and when; who marks it as a favorite; its tags and many more things which are constantly changing." That's right, kids: Cool is proprietary, but the photos are for everyone. Just gaze in awe at the most interesting photos submitted over the past 24 hours. (in Photography) |
