TheFatManWalking.com Why would a happily married father of two leave his family for six or more months to walk across the U.S.? Not for a reality show, not for charity, not even as an online publicity stunt. Nope, Steve Vaught left his San Diego home to hike to New York City with the goal of losing weight. Steve once served as a fit Marine, but in recent years he reached about 400 pounds. He needed to shake things up. Rehab for this fat guy meant more than just ditching the cheeseburgers. Striding down Route 66 and camping along the way, Steve sends journal updates and pictures for his wife to post. The email comments show how Steve's journey has already inspired folks around the globe to get healthy. Since he began the march, Steve has appeared on TV and inked a book deal. All we can add is: Steve, keep on trudgin'! (in Travelogues) |
