Malls of America If you're an American under the age of 40, chances are you spent a significant percentage of your adolescence hanging out in a shopping mall. Keith Milford, a resident of suburban Detroit, combs dusty archives of Americana for "vintage photos of lost shopping malls" from the '60s and '70s. The result is a compelling and nostalgic look at the magical retail palaces of yore. You'll find cheesy postcards, Muzak clips, and nifty studies of vintage mall fountains and birdcages. We have to admit to some jealousy over the tricycle-riding course at the Towne East Square in Wichita, Kansas. Yes, the décor may be hideous, but these malls are where we spent -- or misspent -- our youth. (in Shopping)
