Make: Blog O'Reilly Media may be best known for those computer books with the intriguing animal covers, but hawking tech titles is not the only thing it's been up to. Earlier this year, O'Reilly launched its first issue of Make magazine, a print quarterly for the "alpha geek" do-it-yourselfer -- someone who's more Popular Science than Martha Stewart Living. The accompanying Make: Blog is an ongoing idea stream for hardware hackers, digital fabricators, and their friends. These tinkerers are part of a sometimes goofy, sometimes illustrious tradition of garage inventors working on their own time with everyday toys and tools, like kites, talking fish, phones, and picture frames. Whether you're looking for a fresh project or avoiding your own overloaded to-do list, put Make on your radar. For total immersion, check out the Make bookmarks on del.icio.us or listen in to the audio version. (in Blogs) |
