brooklyn01 If Brooklyn conjures up images of cars, streets, buildings, then "mesmerizing" isn't the word that naturally comes to mind. But Martin Meyer's brooklyn01 may change that. Meyer explores the city "as interactive streetscape." That's online exhibit talk for satellite images of Brooklyn leading to totally cool curbside pictures from across the borough -- all through a fancy format. You have your pick of 360-degree panoramas, still photographs, or raw "drive by movies." Each image opens in a small box, enlarging upon mouse click. Graffiti, abandoned lots, signs in Arabic or Hebrew, old Cadillacs, store fronts -- the stuff of a city's streets is all here. We particularly enjoyed the tiny films of cars or trucks barreling down the road, with the buildings whizzing by and the streetlights overhead, all from the driver's perspective. Cars, streets, buildings -- mesmerizing. (in New York) |
