The Virtual Egyptian Museum Here's an online museum exhibit with a twist -- you can only see it online. These splendid sarcophogi, jewels, statues, and (yes) mummies come from the Senusret Collection, which was on display during the 1970s in Europe until the inevitable budget cutbacks took their toll. Now the antiquities are ensconced in a climate-controlled vault, but that doesn't mean you can't sneak a peek. Our personal favorites include the Canopic chest, which "probably once contained the preserved internal organs of the defunct," a brilliant cobalt Udjat Eye ring, and the mummy mask depicting a high-ranking young woman. Unlike musty old museums, this site lets you browse the collection the way you want to. So, for example, if jewelry, clothing, and accessories are your thing, head on over to the collection by type and choose your relic. This is one museum that you can visit your way.
