Regret The Error Canadian journalist Craig Silverman's blog devoted to notable corrections in mass media of all stripes is the epitome of a great idea well executed. Succinctly put, RTE offers "corrections, retractions, clarifications, and trends regarding accuracy and honesty in North American media." The corrections in question tend to be both hilarious and horrifying. The "Year in Crunks" highlights some real doozies: Kentucky's Lexington Herald-Leader's apology for not covering the civil rights movement, the Chicago Tribune's accidental usage of the "C" word in a headline, and this one from the Dallas Morning News: "An Oct. 19 article on songwriter John Bucchino incorrectly stated that he doesn't read. The sentence should have said that he doesn't read music." Not to be outdone by the mainstream press, RTE includes its own regrettable errors, including a heartfelt apology for an error contained in an apology for error. If you can follow that.
