The Work of Charles & Ray Eames They are probably best known for their furniture -- chairs originally made of molded plywood or painted metal mesh and sofas of a simple, modern design. But Charles and Ray Eames also designed fabrics, wrote books, produced films and exhibitions that promoted popular culture in the U.S. and abroad, and designed low-cost, high-art houses. Using personal documents as well as the products of their talents, this exhibition from the Library of Congress tells the story of this couple and the challenges they faced to improving life through design.
