One Warm Coat It's cold outside. You grab your coat and head out the door -- a simple act that we all take for granted. But for many Americans, there is no coat to protect against the ravages of winter. One Warm Coat has set out to provide a coat, free, for anyone in need of a little warmth. Volunteers throughout the country collect the coats and distribute them directly to needy men, women, and children. This nonprofit organization provides all the materials necessary for local groups to start their own collection and distribution event, including a guide, publicity materials, and sample posters. If you've cleaned out your closet and are looking for a worthwhile recipient for last season's jackets, check out the donation locations in your state. One Warm Coat makes it easy for you to make your own contribution -- whether it's a full-blown collection effort or just an outgrown parka. (in Society and Culture > Philanthropy) |
