Picturing Modern America With all due respect to historians, the subject of history doesn't excite many students. We're sorry, but it's true. Mysteries, on the other hand... When it comes down to it, learning about history is a lot like solving a mystery. That's especially true with old photos. Picturing Modern America gives students, teachers, and parents "historical thinking exercises" meant to inspire questions and get the brain humming. Here's how it works. Visitors examine historical images, look them over for clues, and then draw a conclusion as to what's going on in the photo. Who is that guy? What's that on the table? Think of this site as a history lesson with some hands-on detective work. Just the facts? You tell us. (in U.S. History) |
