The Illustrated Smiths Few musicians have connected as deeply with their fans as Morrissey and his former band, The Smiths. Laying his emotions bare in song after song, he's been a staple of the sensitive indie-rock crowd for 20 years and counting. In this quirky site, devotees of the delicate man from Manchester post illustrations based on his soul-stirring lyrics. Most of the drawings are humble and unrefined, but they speak to the deep connection fans have with his sentiments. You can almost feel the anguish in the stick-figure drawing for "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" and this literal interpretation of "Panic." There is even a visual pun accompanying "Girlfriend in a Coma." Although the site boasts more than 70 pictures, many songs sit sadly without visual representation. We urge you to visit and express your inner Morrissey. (in Rock and Pop) |
