Children's Books Online: The Rosetta Project Growing up, most tikes have a certain story they must hear before they'll agree to turn in for the night. Falling asleep quickly is the kid's job. Reading the same book for the umpteenth time (with minimal sarcasm) is the parent's. This site, entitled Children's Books Online, boldly declares itself "the largest collection of illustrated antique children's books online "we think" and serves as a readable museum of beloved tales from years gone by. And when we say "readable," we mean it -- each book can be read online, from e-cover to e-cover. Some of these books have become so iconic that it's a little strange to see them as they originally were -- just books. On the other hand, not all will be familiar -- anyone call for a Twinkle and Chubbins? A great opportunity to catch up on some classic literature that won't require Cliff Notes, this site makes for good reading. (in Literature) |
