Fresh Yarn Kids, you may hate writing essays, but catch your teachers on a bad day and they'll tell you that reading essay after essay on Huck Finn (or the Bill of Rights or fruit flies or¿) is not exactly kickin' back on the Lay-Z-Boy on a snow-day either. As far as perks of the education industry go, it's on par with pep rally participation. Fortunately, there is a place where the essays are amusing, intelligent, and best of all, free from astute observations on Huck and Jim. Fresh Yarn presents "pieces written by a diverse line-up of all-star writers, directors, producers, performers and personalities" and covers topics ranging from the joy of jury duty to that fateful graduation ceremony when grandma took a hat in the eye. Some stories are funny, others dramatic, and still others moving, but all would surely receive an A+ in the teachers' lounge. (in Literature) |
