Fundrace 2004 The race to the White House accelerates, idles, and brakes over the course of an election year, but the race to collect donations that allow the presidential campaigns to keep on rollin' never lets up. This voyeuristic "fund race" site is "based on records filed with the FEC of contributions by all individuals totaling more than $200 to a single campaign." Although it doesn't include smaller contributions, this site provides a fascinating peek into the checkbooks that fund the campaigns. The Money Maps show how the candidates measure up at the city, state, and national levels, but the real voyeuristic treat is the Neighbor Search. Want to know which presidential candidate a friend, enemy, former presidential candidate, or famous CEO is supporting? Simply type in the person's address or first and last name to find out. Then see who your neighbors support by entering your ZIP code. This site proves that in politics, money fuels the race. (in U.S. Elections > Campaign Finance) |
