Dave Warnke If you've ever been to a modern art museum, no doubt you've noticed the inevitable painting of a giant blue square (or black circle, or red oval). Chances are you asked yourself why anyone bothers to create something so basic (hey, we've wondered the same thing). Dave Warnke, the artist behind this collection of paintings, doesn't think that simplicity must inspire shrugged shoulders and rolled eyes. His creations -- colorful, cheery, and, yes, simple -- are fun to look at, and it's worth noting, you don't have to go to a stuffy museum to see one. City dwellers may stumble across one of his smiling faces on a garbage can. Look up and you might spot one on the side of a building. Here's proof that things simple need not be plain.
