Classic Sports Logos Remember when the Calgary 88s and the Saskatchewan Storm battled on the hard court in the World Basketball League? How about the long baseline rallies of World Team Tennis, a league that unashamedly mixed the New York Apples with the Anaheim Oranges? Chris Anderson, the man who founded Classic Sports Logos in 1997, owns a database of the aforementioned teams' images and nearly 10,000 other sports logos from teams most people have forgotten. Many leagues, such as the American Soccer League, home to the Cleveland Cobras and Golden Gate Gales, were around for several decades. Other leagues were more fleeting -- in only two seasons (1974-75), the World Football League gave us a two-time champion in the form of the Birmingham franchise, and loads of cool retro logos. And yes, for $19.95 a pop, Classic Sports Logos will drop your favorite logo -- from the Albany Patroons to the Youngstown Pride -- onto a T-shirt for you. (in Shopping) |
