Red Star Radiosite While tiny transistor radios today are today's popular choice, Vitaly Brousnikin prefers the classic lines and the glowing green eyes of vintage tube radios. Before TV took over, families gathered around the radio, a tradition that lingered longer in the former Soviet Union than many parts of the world. Though the 1940s saw many stylish cases, the 1950s were the real golden age of Soviet radios. Brousnikin's collection also features vintage record players and their predecessors, the gramophones, plus as well as speakers and microphones. Read detailed articles chronicling the history of Soviet home radio and Russian vacuum tubes, then tune in to the site's Info Center, a repository stuffed with schematics, manufacturer's emblems, tubes, valves, and more.
