Science of Cooking For some of us, the subject of science is kinda like a brussel sprout -- we avoid it at all costs. The mere thought of biology, geology, or any other -ology brings back bad memories of dull days spent in high school labs. That's why institutions like the Exploratorium exist -- to show that science is all around us and can actually be fun. This exhibit dedicated to the science behind cooking will really whet your appetite. It illustrates how candy-making is like chemistry, takes you on a spicy world tour, and recounts the tale of a cup of joe. Watch archived webcasts sure to get your stomach growling, and take your cooking questions straight to the forums to chat with like-minded "scientists." Don't get caught in a pickle, visit this site for a look at the scrumptious side of science. (in Food & Drink) |
