The Knockoff Project While we may like to think that our favorite musicians are true originals, that's not always the case. When it comes to album covers, some acts take the art of copying to new heights. This site documents the duplicity of some well-known (and not so well-known) album covers. Light on text, the site provides a side-by-side visual comparison with the inspiration on the left and the knock-off(s) on the right. Did Guided by Voices take some guidance from Benny Golson? Why did Ween look to Leonard Cohen for direction? And is any cover more aped than Abbey Road? Those answers and many more can be found on this simple page that unmasks the lack of originality behind the covers. So let your Sticky Fingers do the walking and groove to this collection of rockin' art. (in Album Cover Art) |
