Tell No Tales Dead men tell no tales, but Chef Mayhem is very much alive and has quite a story to tell on this unofficial tribute to Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. He starts with an in-depth history of how audio-animatronics technology came of age in the 1960s and made the signature singing sea dogs possible. For a bit of history from the creator himself, listen to Walt Disney describe the proposed pirate ride in 1965. At the time, Pirates of the Caribbean was the most expensive and technologically advanced amusement-park ride ever created and continues to be one of the most popular of Disney attractions. Take a guided tour of the ride, and note the subtleties and foreshadowing found in the grotto scenes. Scurvy mates can chat on the bulletin board and download multimedia treasure. A few clicks around and you'll be singing, "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!" (in Recreation & Sports) |
