Avoiding Armageddon Once again, PBS is at the forefront of current events, confronting the issues of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction head on. Learn the facts about biological, chemical, nuclear weapons; check out the map of countries possessing weapons; then quiz yourself in the Global Security Simulator. Individual stories put a human face on a world teetering on destruction -- a Palestinian teen dreams of peace, an American postal worker suffers side effects from Anthrax, and two Russian teachers fight the nuclear poisoning of their hometown. Knowledge is the first step toward change, getting involved is the next. PBS hopes this site will encourage citizens to discuss these issues. To that end, they provide an outreach calendar of chats and book signings across the U.S. The world's future appears grim, but PBS shows that Armageddon is not a foregone conclusion.
