Alice In Wonderland "Curiouser and curiouser," said Alice. Perhaps she was referring to the multitude of film, TV, video, record, radio, and theatrical productions based on Lewis Carroll's books Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Beginning with the silent film era, we've seen the little girl wander through fanciful lands on stages large and small. The first movie in which we saw Alice was Viola Savoy in 1915. The 1933 Paramount movie included Gary Cooper, Cary Grant, and W.C. Fields in supporting roles. For a colorful look at her animated features, check out several pages of hand-drawn cells from Disney's 1951 Alice movie. Horror director Wes Craven's upcoming Alice flick reveals a twisted take on the story. Alice has even wandered onto The Simpsons. Step through a cyber looking glass for more charming recreations of the tale, or check out actual Alice locales in Oxford, England. These wonderland treasures will have you grinning like a Cheshire cat. (in Literature > Authors) |
