TricksWithHats Welcome to a world of millinery manipulation, malarkey, and mayhem. First things first -- you'll need a hat. Two types are preferred: bowlers (aka derbys) and top hats. Each style has its pros and cons and is suited to different types of tricks. You can purchase one from a recommended supplier, or refurbish an old thrift-store fedora into a stylish derby at home. Once you've procured a lid, it's time to learn the tricks of the trade. Get a grip and try the screwdriver, a move in which you elegantly flip the hat from your head to hand. Or add a little humor to removing that topper with the forward twiddle. Each trick description includes an MPEG movie that shows the move in action. Try knocking your hat to your foot, or make it land on your hand in coat peg fashion. You can even make your hat levitate. Now you can have great fun with your hat, as long you don't suffer from stubborn hat syndrome. (in Society & Culture) |
