Feral Children Stories of feral children have amazed and intrigued people for centuries. Sometimes known as "wolf children," these kids were brought up with little or no human contact, and, in some cases, raised by animals. Of course, many of the purported cases are dubious, but this site wasn't created to prove the existence of feral children. It's merely here to provide "light reading for those with a passing interest in feral children" and point out other sites and published works that offers an academic look at the subject. The Myth and Legend section provides a brief overview of some famous feral children, but the most interesting area of the site is the List of Children. There are only a handful of links to more information about the children listed here, but the stories of kids like Genie -- discovered in 1970 at age 13 after living in a state of severe sensory and social deprivation for her entire life -- make for fascinating reading. You'll have to make up your own mind whether you believe the stories or not. (in Psychology) |
