Julie's Tacky Treasures Julie, the author of this site, notes that tackiness abounds in our country. But for an object to be a tacky treasure, it must possess an additional quality: a naïve yet ultimately flawed effort to be sophisticated or stylish, a complete lack of shame in exploiting poor taste, or a deliberate flaunting of poor taste as a rebellion against established norms. Growing up tacky aided Julie's efforts to compile an impressive collection of treasures. The site is divided into sections such as Seasonal Tacky, Nouveau Tacky, and Tacky Places. But the treasures that put the "Ack!" in tacky are featured on the Top Tacky Treasures page. Here you'll find outhouse-shaped salt-and-pepper shakers and a vest made out of 20,000 rubber bands. You'll shake your head at this exhibition of America the tacky. (in Collecting)
