British Contemporary Sculpture At Goodwood Sculpture at Goodwood, a charitable foundation started in 1994 to globally promote British sculpture, presents the works of 100-plus artists, all large-scale projects meant to be displayed outdoors. Eilis O'Connell's Space Emptied Out is something of a brainteaser that combines woven stainless-steel cord and cast bronze. Michael Sandle strikes a mighty blow for freedom with a statue that takes a cudgel to a TV screen. David Mach's colorful The Wild Bunch! draws attention to scenes that we often overlook in everyday life. Some sculptures incorporate unusual elements such as Vong Phaophanit's Azure Neon Body, which combines Laotian script and neon light, or William Pye's Charybdis and Scylla II sculptures, which feature water vortexes. The artists and the Goodwood group clearly think big when it comes to art. (in Visual Arts)
