If you love highly polished food sites with slick photos of mouth-watering dishes geared towards gourmands, this is not the site for you. If, on the other hand, you crave a mean tater tot casserole or some down-home-style collard greens, dig in. This food-focused site offers articles (don't miss the one about 118 food-based movies), restaurant reviews, and a list of reference and cookbooks, but the real meat here is the recipe archive. You'll find everything your unpretentious appetite could desire, from "White Trash" fare perfect for your next trailer-park cookout (deep-fried candy bars, anyone?) to the requisite tuna noodle casserole to spicy sweet potato latkes (a favorite of the site's editor). An unusually high percentage of the recipes seem to call for peanut butter, a plus in our (cook) book. Break out the Skippy and let's get cooking! |
