Rulers If they ruled, you'll find them here. From Afghanistan's King Ahmad Shah to Zimbabwe's Archibald Ross Colquhoun, this site offers an astounding level of detail. The list of rulers goes back to around 1700, and includes popes, patriarchs, archbishops, and other religious leaders. Click on the map to travel through the history of governments. You can also peruse a month-by-month list of events relevant to the world's leaders since 1996. For example, in November 2000, not only did George W. Bush narrowly win the U.S. presidency, but India created the new state of Uttaranchal, Liberals won 173 of 301 seats in the Canadian Parliament, and both Papua New Guinea and Congo (Kinshasa) reshuffled their cabinets. It really is a mad, mad, mad, mad world. (in History) |
