Bound for Glory: A Tribute to Woody Guthrie This online exhibition, from the Museum of Musical Instruments, focuses on one of America's most prolific and loved songwriters, a man who sang about the "struggles of the nation¿s displaced, disenfranchised, overworked, and underpaid people." Presenting a map of the country as a guide, you're invited to explore Woody Guthrie's life, from his childhood in Oklahoma to his emigration to California to his final days in New York. Each stop along his journey produced scores of songs, many of which can be heard here. Photographs, essays, poems, letters, and drawings fill in the details of the American folk singer's remarkable life. (in Music) |
