The Covers Project The music-lovin' folks behind this web site found themselves with some time on their hands, so they decided to create a cover-song database with the ambitious goal of creating "cover chains." What is a cover chain? It's a "set of songs in which each song is a cover of a song by the band who covered the preceding song." Um, right. In any event, check out the longest chain, a sequence that starts with the legendary Fred Astaire and ends with the new millennium British popster Robbie Williams. In between is a diverse group of artists including Limp Bizkit, Linda Ronstadt, Henri Mancini, and the Grateful Dead. With almost 8,000 songs and over 3,500 artists catalogued, the database brims with loose musical connections. The site relies on visitors to build the database, so feel free to add a cover song.
